No More Wars Please, K Thanks 7 January 09

I don’t understand why is it that people kill in the name of God? Each in the name of their very own God. Well, I am starting my very own war, against those who take lives with the excuse that their God “said so”.

I also stopped blaming the politicians for the wars. It’s the people who do the fighting that are to be blamed. What would happen if one morning everyone with a gun, slingshot, rocket, pen, fist woke up and decided they just weren’t going to use their choice of weapons? What could a politician, an anarchist leader, a terrorist leader, a general of the armies do if people who they used like puppets the last few thousand years decided enough was enough, that they were not taking another life or encouraging or assisting in the taking of lives anymore. What could they do? They are a minority, they don’t do the fighting, they don’t send their own kids to fight (smarter than Palin in that sense), they just order it, facilitate it. It’s the regular people in the front lines doing the fighting, the killing who need to wake up, come to their senses and stop this madness. It is the people who, whether they believe in God which was imposed on them from birth or not, need to stop believing the lies that killing in the name of God is OK or killing is ok, full stop.

Innocent people dying everyday, in places in Gaza, Iraq and everyone has been disensitized to violence so much that it’s just a daily occurence. A bomb exploded in Peshawar yesterday. Where is Peshawar anyways? Brittney is fighting to get his sons back. Wow, OMG, look at her, she is trying so hard to get herself back together again. Aww, that’s wonderful. WTF is wrong with this picture? Bad news is now boring. Catastrophy is to be expected no big deal. War and invasions, bah so what’s new? People dying. Women abused and exploited. Poor getting poorer. Doesn’t matter but let’s just fight God’s war on one another.

I just saw the new version of The Day The World Stood Still. It bothers me that American movies assume every alien will pick on Americans first, will try to communicate in English in Washington DC or New York somewhere and that when it is trying to take over the world, a 20something year old hot American top scientist mamma is going help save it the last minute. Other than that it was a great watch and I must say Keanu Reeves makes a great alien dude. I would like to see the Alien Ark happening, with all the species, whatever left that is, are taken in pairs into space ships and taken far away from us, humans, so they can survive. I like the idea of the world without humans, taking over what is rightfully hers and thriving, rather than barely surviving and suffering.

I also saw part of the movie The Happening. A load of crap of a movie it is. Bad acting, bad script, bad everything. Even my curiosity to find out what the hell was happening wasn’t enough to keep watching it till the end. Waste of my precious 20 minutes, I could have spent doing something meaningful like blogging studying.

I like this song at the moment. Very much so that I share it with you. And especially the last bit, as it says people shape, then see and believe God to be what people themselves are.

Lyrics:

God thinks all blacks are obsolete farm equipment
God thinks the Jews killed his son and must be punished
God thinks the white man is Satan
God, they know what God thinks

God thinks we should all convert to Judaism
God thinks we must all be Christians and
God thinks we should all embrace Islam
God thinks the only true religion is Hinduism

And I
I know what God thinks
God thinks you’re a waste of flesh
God prefers an Atheist

God God
God thinks all people like you are hateful
God thinks all people like you are an embarrassment to creation
Self-righteous, judgmental, first to throw a stone
And using His name for your own protection

God thinks the sun revolves around the Earth
God thinks there was something very wrong with Copernicus
God thinks abortion is murder and
God thinks everything that science gave us is wrong
God thinks women deserve it
God thinks AIDS is a form of punishment

I hate people who blame the Devil for their own shortcomings and
I hate people who thank God when things go right

And I
I know what God thinks
God thinks you’re an idiot
God prefers a heretic

God God
God thinks all people like you are hateful
God thinks all people like you are an embarrassment to creation
Self-righteous, judgmental, first to throw the stone
And using His name for your own agenda

God is a liberal
God is a democrat
God wants you to vote republican
Never trust a man who puts his words in the mouth of god
And says it’s absolute truth
Its lies and it smells like death
It’s all in a day’s work taking money from the poor
Why do you think that God would need your dirty money
If he wanted to start a holy war?

Self-righteous, judgmental, first to throw a stone
And using His name for your own protection

God thinks puppies need to die and
God thinks babies need to drown
’cause God is neither good nor bad
God is you and me
God is Everything

Amen, sister. Amen.

In re: The Earth Stood Still — Well, if it had been remade by a French director, then it probably would’ve been a 20 something year old hot FRENCH scientist mama. In Paris.

🙂

I loved the original of TDTESS, Gaye with Michael Rennie. Very dated now but it still grabs me.
Loved the God video, says it all and so well.
If you want to see an excellent movie try “The Visitor” w/Richard Jenkins. My best of 2008.
Namaste, dear friend.

I can’t agree we should stop blaming politicians for wars. True enough that without all those individual squaddies signing up there wouldn’t be any fighting, but it’s the politicians and generals who plan the conflicts, persuade the soliders it’s a noble cause and explain away all the innocent victims as collateral damage.

The root cause of all those willing soldiers is partly people not thinking for themselves because schools encourage deference to authority rather than independent judgment. If potential soliders thought long and hard about what they were being asked to do and whether it could really be justified, many more would say no. The other root cause is of course personal hardship and unemployment which makes people grab at soldiery as a desperate solution.

Megan ~ Hehe, but why is it that then the movie is in America and the scientist is a 20 something hot rocket scientist mamma but the baddie is an English or Russian guy with a heavy accent? Pffrt. Typical!

WWW ~ I think I have seen The Visitor. Name is familiar but it must have been a while? I will check it out anyways. The other day we almost bought the original version of TDTESS. I was happy enough with the remake I have to say, it had entertainment value not so much art value to make it into a classic though.

Nick ~ Good points Nick. I guess because I was raised to question, ask and find out for myself, I can’t understand people who can be easily trained/brainwashed to do horrible things to other human beings. This includes raping of Muslim girls/women in the former Yugoslavia by the Serbian soldiers; includes the suicide bombers; includes the killing of civillians in Gaza and Iraq; the list goes on and on. Depressing stuff.

I’ve seen so many people moved by this horror going on in Gaza – Just hope the insanity stops soon

6. Gaye - 8 January 09

No, why should it stop? There are weapons to be sold, profits to be made. War business shall not be interrupted by a mere global recession.

I guess one has to start by identifying “who, or what is god”. To my mind, we are god, so best we just get on with blaming ourselves. Or better yet, we just wake up and smell the roses of our reality. We make all of this up as we go along, we create the illusion, forgetting our origins, our purpose and our fundamental connectedness and the fact that we all spring from and return to the very same energy. The rest is just fear, not god.
Great post, Gaye – and I hope you have a totally stunning 2009!

Vanilla ~ What did you think of the song? I think the last part is same as what you are talking about.
The movie I was talking the TDTESS movie, I liked the remake of it because it focused on the destructive behaviour of humans. Although there was the romantic notion of how people can change and we can save ourselves and the planet at crunch time, etc etc. Have you seen it yet?
Thank you for the 2009 wishes, same to you also dear.

9. Baino - 10 January 09

No argument on this side of the fence. I agree, if in this utopia we just said, stop, I’m not shooting kids who throw stones, I’m not invading countries because it suits me . . sadly the world of humanity is built on war it’s how the planet defines it’s borders, arranges its economics and subjugates the weak. Even without God, there would still be reason to disagree. Even families disagree, often vehemently and that’s the grass root of society. Hate it, can’t stand it but it’s been there since the dawn of time. And the Gaza thing? Israel is the smallest bully in the world but nobody is game to tell them so thanks to the total xenophobia we now feel about those in the middle east. I share your frustration and the song is brilliant.

10. Gaye - 10 January 09

I understand where you are coming from, fist fights are built-in. But do you think Baino, that, if there were no organised religion in the world, there would be the crusades, the large scale wars? I think people would have just fought with their neighbours. Ok, there is the colonisation but again much of it was indeed funded by the churches etc, the richer groups at the time. And fair enough there would always be someone after world domination but at least there wouldn’t be the Christian boys club European Union or the US lobby for the Israelis (Jews) and mass grouping of Muslim world vs Christian world so on and so forth. The whole this vs. that is just wrong. Xenophobia totally sucks.
Anyhow, glad you liked the song. His voice is nice too.
